Sedation

Sedation, level by level

You can have local numbing alone, nitrous oxide, or IV sedation. This page says who gives each, how you are watched and what you need to arrange.

Dr. Elgendy gives your sedation herself under her state sedation permit, and a second trained team member watches you. You choose the level at the consult, and you can change your mind before the day.

  • The surgeon gives it, a trained assistant watches you

  • Heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen and breathing monitored

  • An adult drives you home and stays

Before the day

  • Tell us everything

List your medicines, supplements and health conditions at booking. Dr. Elgendy may speak with your physician before she chooses a level.

  • Arrange your ride

For IV sedation, your driver must stay in the office or close by and then with you at home. Without one, we reschedule.

  • Risks, said once

Every level of sedation has risks, from nausea and drowsiness to rare breathing and heart problems. She goes over yours at the consult and answers every question.
